Consolidated Pavilion Exposition Gone With The Wind / Parlor Lamp

The Gone With the Wind lamp, also called a hurricane or chamber lamp, is known for its double-lampshade structure with both the top and bottom having identical color. The eponymous lampshade became popular after it was used in the set design of the movie, Gone With the Wind. One such consolidated pavilion exposition kerosene parlor lamp is a key highlight of this upcoming auction, presented by Jeffrey S. Evans & Assoc., Inc. The red vase holder in reversed position is fitted with a cast-metal vase liner with an acanthus leaves rim and bronze-finished cast-iron foot. It has a stamped fleur-de-lis and rib pattern at the shoulder. The early 20th century piece is crafted with a period Plume & Atwood Royal burner, a slip chimney and an upper shade with a brass heat ring at the top.

Two striking pairs of cobalt blue crystal lamps also lead the listings. The Aladdin model B-76/ Lincoln drape kerosene stand lamps have plain feet with a crowfoot design to the underside. Each piece has a side refill feature with original cap and a brass Model B “Chicago” burner without a flame spreader. Born in Vitebsk, Belarus, Marc Chagall enjoyed a successful career in the 20th century as a Modernist artist. Chagall, whose real name was Moyshe Segal, was born into a modest Jewish family. He received his first artistic training at the art school in his native Belarus. He shifted to Paris in 1923 following World War I. Chagall was best known for his dreamlike abstract artworks that merged with Fauvist, Cubist, and Surrealist movements. The upcoming Visionary Artists Collection sale from 500 Gallery will feature one such work attributed to Marc Chagall. The untitled piece is a mixed media on paper and comes to auction unframed. The available lot captivates with its dreamlike quality and enchanting narrative.

Another notable lot in this auction is an oil on canvas attributed to American artist Joan Mitchell. This Untitled (Sunflowers) work was rendered in 1969. In 1937, Cartier made this bracelet with charms resembling the animated feature film Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs. During the 1930s and 1940s, Disney and Cartier teamed up to create souvenirs for Walt Disney Productions, including golden curios for the American market. Another notable jewelry lot in the sale is an Elsa Peretti mesh scarf necklace designed to drape gracefully over the body’s contours because of its malleable design. This piece is crafted in sterling silver with a Peretti T&Co signature. 

Among timepieces in the sale, bidders can consider a 21 Must de Cartier stainless steel wristwatch from Cartier. A vintage watch from the Parisian house, 21 Must de Cartier comes with a round case and three-piece link strap. Salvador Dalí (1904–1989) Title St. George and the Dragon

A 1947 etching of the legend of Saint George and the Dragon by Salvador Dali is a key highlight of the upcoming sale by Toomey & Co. According to the legend, the saint arrived in a village where a tyrannical monster would extort tribute from its inhabitants on a regular basis. When their livestock and trinkets were exhausted, the villagers began offering humans. This went on until the princess was selected as the next offering. Saint George rescued the princess and slayed the dragon. In Christianity, George of Lydda is considered a martyred soldier and venerated as a saint, although the narrative has diverse pre-Christian origins. Published by the Print Club of Cleveland, it is signed and dated to lower right ‘Salvador Dalí 1947’. The etching belongs to the edition of 250, printed by Charles S. White at the studio of Stanley William Hayter (New York).

Another noteworthy artwork in the catalog is Black Maid, a 1946 lithograph by Elizabeth Catlett. The imagery highlights the experience of African-American women. The sculptor and graphic artist is renowned for her portrayal of the Black community, particularly focussing on issues of racism and social discrimination. The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore collection has defied conventions since 1993 with its sporty and sturdy design. The luxury Swiss watch brand Audemars Piguet introduced a luxury steel watch with a ‘tapisserie dial’ and an integrated bracelet characterized by a daring and revolutionary design by Gerald Genta in 1972. The Royal Oak became an international success and one of the most iconic watches of its era. This revolutionary luxury watch was characterized by an octagonal-shaped bezel secured by eight visible hexagonal gold screws, which was inspired by a traditional diver’s helmet. 

The upcoming sale also offers several jewelry creations by David Webb. A pair of 18-karat gold/ platinum earrings by Webb leads the sale. The earrings feature ruby cabochons, emeralds, and diamonds weighing approximately 3.20 carats. It is marked Webb. The total weight of the earrings is 27.9 grams. 1965 Shelby Pool Table, Limited Edition

Brunk Auctions will present the personal collection of Dee and Tommy Hilfiger this July. A live sale with over 250 lots, the event highlights celebrity-focused photography, vintage furniture items, and fine works of decorative art. Among the key lots is a pool table made from a 1965 Shelby classic car. This limited edition piece is composed of fiberglass, chrome, wood, and rubber with a blue felt top and custom license plate. Notable among celebrity memorabilia in the sale are several photographs of Iman and David Bowie for Tommy Hilfiger’s 2004 spring “H” advertising campaign. These photos were captured by German photographer Ellen von Unwerth, and the couple was styled by Edward Enninful. This campaign was intended to draw out Bowie and Iman’s playful sides, showing them dancing, embracing, and relaxing together. 

A selection of fine table- and serveware will be available in this sale, including a coin silver entrée with stag handles and a finial. Revere Auctions to Offer Hu Wenming Style Parcel Gilt Bronze Censer and Huanghuali Horseshoe-Back Armchairs

This July, Revere Auctions will present more than 300 Asian and American collectibles in its upcoming auction. Among the highlights is an antique parcel-gilt bronze Chinese censer probably belonging to the late Ming or Qing dynasty. With two looped handles, the piece stands 4.75 inches high and weighs approximately 383.6 grams. It includes intricate decorations along the sides with scholar’s objects such as incense burners and brush pots. According to the auction house, this style is similar to works by Hu Wenming and his workshop. Hu Wenming (1573 – 1620) was one of the most accomplished metalworkers in Chinese history. 

A pair of Huanghuali horseshoe-back armchairs is another notable lot. Dating to the 18th century, these horseshoe-back jiaoyi armchairs are considered highly valuable among collectors. Each chair has a paneled seat and characteristically shaped top rails. The back splats have two carved panels depicting lotus plants and a female figure. The legs joined by stretchers come with a footrest. As per the auction house, these chairs are structurally sound and stable. Samuel Langhorne Clemens, better known as Mark Twain, was a celebrated writer, essayist and humorist. He was also known for his amusing travel writings, drawing on his rich experiences. One such bestselling work by Twain is a key highlight of the upcoming sale, offered by Potter & Potter Auctions. The Innocents Abroad, or The New Pilgrims’ Progress, published by American Publishing Company in 1869, is an eight-volume book with a frontispiece and engraved title-page. It comprises 14 plates inserted throughout and numerous intertextual illustrations. The book journals Twain’s travel accounts on the U. S. S. Quaker City steamship. The presentation copy is inscribed by Twain on the first blank. It reads, “This book is given to Miss Jane Findlay Shunk, With the Kindest regards of Mark Twain [flourish] Harrisburgh, [sic].”

Another lot of interest is Thomas L. McKenney’s History of the Indian Tribes of North America. The book has 42 hand-colored lithographed plates, mostly portraits of Native Americans painted by Charles Bird King. McKenney was a US official who served as Superintendent of Indian Affairs from 1824 to 1830. He worked with James Hall and Charles to create three volumes of the book, released between 1836 and 1844. This futuristic-looking watch, inspired by the space age, features a bold titanium case, a 72-hour power reserve, and a crystal dome housing the tourbillion. The hours and minutes are represented on separate, semi-spherical aluminum indications. The watch is water resistant to 30 meters. MB&F produced the first Horological Machine No.6-HM6 Space Pirate in November 2014. Another notable watch is the stylish Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Tourbillon Chronograph wristwatch with a black dial and 44mm case.

The necklace features 82 round brilliant-cut diamonds, weighing a total of approximately 1.64 carats.
