This enabled him to create freestanding cutout images without the conventional square frames. Following his experiments with cardboard and wood, Gerstein discovered laser-cutting technology. He began using aluminum and created single layer and subsequently multi-layered cutouts. The upcoming sale from Robinhood Auctions will feature some noteworthy mixed media cutouts in aluminum. One of them belongs to a limited edition of 150. Titled City Riders A, it measures 47 inches by 28 inches. He uses vibrant hues to portray everyday life activities such as walking and cycling.
