In the Los Angeles area, Lee Stanton’s STASH warehouse and showroom are established landmarks of the home design scene. Stanton, a 30-year collector of European antiques, mixes vintage pieces with modern and industrial works. This combination of new and old will be presented in the upcoming Traditional Antiques with a Modern Twist timed auction, offered by Lee Stanton’s STASH warehouse. Running from mid-December to early January, this sale will include over 550 lots of furniture, decorative art, and collectibles. Of interest is an 18th–century Venetian tapestry made of red velvet and gold embroidery. This tapestry was used to cover the book of Jewish laws in a Prague temple. It was created during a period of religious renewal in Judaism.
The furniture available in this auction includes complete matching sets alongside individual pieces. Many of the furniture items follow unusual patterns and designs; one example is a 1970 English settee patterned with an oyster veneer. This technique uses thin wood slices cut in cross-sections to create a swirled circle design. Other lots featured in this sale include an oak and cast iron staircase from 19th century France and a Modernist leather sofa from Denmark.
