William Keith’s works exhibit the characteristic contemplative mood and subdued palette of the Tonalism Movement. His inspiration was the mountain landscapes of California, where he went on numerous sketching trips. The upcoming sale offered by Michaan’s Auctions will highlight one of Keith’s pieces, titled Figures Walking on a Path with Sheep.
American Pop artist Jim Dine’s The Wolf-Man’s Dream will be available as well. Characterized by expressive brushstrokes and an exploration of identity and memory, the piece depicts a seminal event in Sigmund Freud’s study of dreams. Also highlighted is a pair of bronze ritual wine vessels. Belonging to the Han dynasty, each faceted vessel has loose ring handles on the sides and S-shaped finials at the corners. Pieces from John George Brown and Leonard Lester are also offered. View the full catalog and register to bid on Michaan’s Auctions.
