Early Summer Collectibles Auction

A selection of fine art, pop culture items, and jewelry will be highlighted in the Early Summer Collectibles Auction at Churchill Galleries. From the world of art comes a Jacque Reich remarque proof engraving of Patrick Henry. Reich was a portrait engraver from Hungary who primarily worked in the United States. His portraits for Appletons’ Cyclopædia of American Biography and Scribner’s Cyclopedia of Painters and Paintings number in the thousands, and he is known for his interpretations of American historic figures. Other artistic works in the sale include an Asian-style watercolor that depicts a landscape mountain scene with grasses and trees. The work is signed by artist Will Martin in the upper left-hand corner and dated 1956.

Of the sale’s pop culture items, an autographed poster from the Northville Long Island 10th Anniversary Charity Golf Tournament will be featured. The poster is dated August 1996 and has over 70 signatures from the tournament’s participants, including the pictured Lee Trevino. An original still photo of Ronald Reagan, Errol Flynn, Alan Hale, and Arthur Kennedy in a scene from the Warner Bros. movie Desperate Journey (1942) is another key lot. Desperate Journey was a World War II action movie that featured a group of downed Allied airmen making their escape from the Third Reich.

Representing jewelry in this auction is a vintage Trifari gold leaf necklace with Swarovski crystal embellishments and a snake-style chain and extender. A vintage Monet gold-tone and enamel brooch, a Coro enamel brooch, and a turquoise blue and pearl twisted torsade will be offered as well.
