Marajoara Massive Terracotta Urn Fragment:
Pre-Columbian, Brazil, Marajoara culture, ca. 800 to 1400 CE. A large fragment from a massive ceramic funerary urn. This represents much of the neck of the vessel, with a protruding anthropomorphic face featuring a smaller zoomorphic head projecting from its forehead. Raised bands of clay form abstract symbols and a border around the head, giving the impression of large horns and two other faces. Swirling and labyrinthine geometric motifs, painted in red on the pale brown background, create an ornate surface and suggest ritual tattoos or scarification. Urns of this size have never been found in a complete and intact state. Size: 27″ W x 15″ H (68.6 cm x 38.1 cm); 19″ H (48.3 cm) on included custom stand.
The Marajoara – also known as the Marajo – flourished on Marajo Island, in the mouth of the Amazon River. They built impressive mounds and lived subsistence lifestyles while producing stylistically-unique, beautiful pottery like this. This was a large-scale civilization, contrary to what many European researchers believed of the Amazon before their discovery – the mounds ranged from 3 to 10 meters in height, and some sites cover more than 10 square kilometers and contain 20 to 30 individual mounds. Their figural pottery was mainly of females, representing roughly 70-90% of all known ceramic sculptures from the Marajoara and their neighbors the Santarem, which researchers believe indicates that chiefly descent came from a mythical female ancestor. During this period, both male and female figures are shown as shamans. Urns were buried in the many large cemeteries known from the region, and the soil conditions have preserved the human remains inside them quite well; as of yet, no formal studies have been undertaken on them, representing a potential treasure trove of information that could rewrite what we think of the ancient Amazon Basin.

Indian Chandraketugarh Pottery Jar w/ Procession & TL:
South Asia, eastern India, Bengal, Chandraketugarh, ca. 2nd century BCE to 1st century CE. A marvelous mold-made pottery jar intricately decorated with the frieze of a procession. Sitting upon a round base, the vessel’s conical body features the relief of several bare-breasted male and female figures, all wearing thick, collar necklaces, bracelets, anklets, and lungis held at their waists by broad belts. The crowd is vast, with several heads and torsos of figures depicted in the background and lush trees and flowers scattered throughout. All are positioned in dramatic poses as though dancing or celebrating, while many hold various objects, such as musical horns, palm fans, spears, bows, and arrows. A deer, a dog, a child, and even an elephant are all participants in this joyous occasion. A register of several makaras – half-elephant, half-crocodilian sea creatures used as a vehicle for the gods (or “vahana”) to travel over large bodies of water – decorates the area below the celebration. Meanwhile, the corseted neck of the vessel is adorned by a gorgeous phytomorphic motif of abundant lotus flowers and the elegantly flared, annular rim showcases a band of seated birds, each carrying a branch in its beak. Size: 5.25″ in diameter x 7.25″ H (13.3 cm x 18.4 cm)

Rare Photo NASA Apollo, Gemini, Astronauts, 1960s:
DIMENSIONS: 8.5 ” X 11″ (small variances can occur).
PROVENANCE: This historical photograph is from the heir/daughter of Chuck Pond. This is the exactly information we received from the daugther of Mr. Pond: “My dad was Chuck Pond, he was an aerial photographer for the Air Force, He later went to work for a company called Aerojet in Sacramento Ca. Aerojet was contracted by NASA to build and test rockets, my dad worked in the photo dept.and was given any film that was taken during any rocket testing and any pictures that were taken when they sent any of the Gemini rockets into space, this included pictures from the first moonwalk. My dad worked for Aerojet for many years until they closed down in the late 60s to early 70s. These are pictures my dad developed and printed while working at Aerojet.”. We have carefully reviewed this photograph and after a deep analysis and according with our experience it corresponds to the period of the Missions Apollo and Gemini during the 1960s. This photo was printed in KODAK Paper (The printing KODAK PAPER was commonly used in the 1960s and early 1970s) and in our opinion it is original from the negative. According with our conversation with the heir of Mr. Chuck Pond, the original negative might be in NASA possession.
