Collection and Backal Library. Includes Viceroyalty Silver, Miniatures and Mexican Paintings

One of the leading lots in the upcoming Collection and Backal Library sale, offered by Morton Subastas, is a portrait by Édouard Pingret. His paintings, which mostly favored the Neoclassical style, often captured 19th-century social status. The available piece depicts a woman in a lace dress, resting her elbow on a pile of cloth. Another lot of interest is a gilt silver plate from Mexico. The piece is carved with scrolls, acanthuses, flowers, and geometric motifs on the front. 

This auction will also feature a ship sculpture that dates back to the 16th century. The piece is decorated with railings, lily flowers, and plant designs. The Provencal cross on the item indicates it was owned by the Order of Santo Domingo. Pieces of 18th– and 19th-century fine art, as well as ethnographic and furniture pieces, will also be offered.
