William Paxton (1869 – 1941), an American painter and instructor, is widely recognized for employing a technique called “binocular vision” to his paintings. Only one area of his compositions were in focus, whereas the remaining appeared blurred. The upcoming auction, The Fall Sale, presented by Eldred’s Auction, will feature Paxton’s oil on canvas “Portrait of a seated woman” among several other works of different artists. The wide-ranging furniture collection will include the Hepplewhite Demilune sideboard attributed to John Seymour. The top of the sideboard is made from a single piece of mahogany. The central drawer is designed over an open–arched compartment, flanked on both sides by a bottle drawer and a cupboard door. Oriental rugs, designed with blossoms and geometric patterns, will also be a major part of the auction. To find more information or to register to bid online at Eldred’s Auction.
