Modern and Contemporary Native American Art

Cowan Auctions will feature modern and contemporary Native American artworks in their upcoming sale, along with various pieces of Asian art, antiques, collectibles, and decorative art. The auction will particularly highlight a bronze sculpture by Tammy Garcia. The American artist is best known for her classic designs and modern iconography. The available low-relief sculpture depicts basket dancers on a curled piece of bronze; with its base, it measures over seven feet tall. Also offered is a Tufa cast cuff bracelet designed by Charles Loloma. The bracelet is a 20th-century piece with 14 karat gold and silver gouache. The design bears an off-centered Lander turquoise cabochon set in a gold bezel. 

Also leading the auction is a sculpted dancing figure by Allan Houser. A redware pottery jar with bear prints by Margaret Tafoya, known for her large and distinctive vessels, is presented as well.
