Georg Jensen, a Danish silversmith, tried his hand at pottery and sculpture before setting up his silver business in 1904. Initially known for his jewelry, Jensen’s designs for flatware and hollowware quickly became known for their quality craftsmanship. Although Jensen died in 1934, his company survived him and continues producing new and old patterns. Available in Gallery 63’s upcoming auction is a silver bowl from Jensen. Designed in 1919, the wide-rimmed bowl is decorated with grapes and vines on the underside and is supported by a bead and twist column terminating on a footed base.
This auction also offers over 250 lots of fine art and jewelry. Among the leading items is a photographic print by Peter Lik. A self-taught artist in the field of landscape photography, Lik is best known for his images of cascading waterfalls, ethereal mountain peaks, and peaceful desert canyons. The available print, titled Kona, shows a sunset on a Hawaiian beach. Also notable is a lady’s Ebel Beluga watch. The 18-karat yellow gold wristwatch features a diamond-decorated bezel.
