Decorative Art by Daum & Louis Majorelle to Appear in Upcoming New York City Estate Auction

Founded by Jean Daum in 1878, Daum is a glassware manufacturing company. The brand is primarily recognized for its pâte de verre technique. Characterized by meticulous designs, Daum glass items are often associated with the Art Nouveau style. The brand notably collaborated with French decorator and furniture designer Louis Majorelle for a time. An iron and glass lamp by Daum & Louis Majorelle will appear in the upcoming New York City Estate auction, presented by Auctions at Showplace. The piece has a cameo glass shade with floral designs and a wrought iron base. 

The sale also features a modern sculpture in the manner of Henry Moore. It is a gilt bronze abstract piece mounted on a stone base. Moore was among the leading European artists of the 20th century.
