Brunk Auctions Highlights Sterling Silver Flatware Assortment, the Works of Charles Dickens in Upcoming Emporium Sale
Jul 14, 2022 09:00 EDTAn assortment of 19th and 20th-century flatware will be featured in the upcoming Emporium Auction from Brunk Auctions. This 86-piece collection of silver and sterling silver includes patterns from the Mansion House by Heirloom and Priscila by Dominick & Haff. A Wallace Irian solid handle butter knife, nine pieces of Continental silver, a Georg Jensen hollow handle cheese server, and an English silver salt spoon are also in the mix.
Several volumes of The Works of Charles Dickens will also be available. Many of his contemporaries viewed Charles Dickens (1812 – 1870) as the greatest novelist of the fiction genre from the Victorian era, and people still do today. This lot contains some of Dickens’ most notable fictional characters, including Great Expectations’ Miss Havisham, Oliver Twist’s the Artful Dodger, and David Copperfield’s eponymous protagonist. These published volumes are stamped “London: Chapman and Hall, Ld.” and bound by famous European bookbinder Joseph Zaehnsdorf (1816 – 1886).
