Artwork by Joan Miró and Luxury Watches From Showplace Antique + Design CenterDec 06, 2020 12:00 EST
The International Watch Company, known as IWC, is a Swiss watch manufacturing brand founded in Schaffhausen in 1868. Founder Florentine Ariosto Jones wanted to create timepieces with modern American manufacturing methods and Swiss craftsmanship. In the year 1980, IWC introduced its first chronograph watch. Following the Porsche Design Chronograph were the Da Vinci and Aquatimer watches. Showplace Antique + Design Center’s upcoming sale presents an IWC platinum automatic chronograph wristwatch. The available circa 2000 wristwatch has a leather strap and a platinum buckle. Also available is a Rolex lady’s Datejust President watch and a Patek Philippe Geneve Calatrava watch.
Also featured in the auction is a colored etching by Surrealist painter Joan Miró. La Sorciere portrays a sorcerer trying to summon supernatural spirits. The whimsical artwork by Miró is notable for its abstract imagery and distinct colors. The auction also highlights a Tiffany & Co. Schlumberger Starfish brooch. The 18-karat yellow gold, ruby, and sapphire brooch is the creation of famous Tiffany designer Jean Schlumberger. The New York City Estate Auction will also offer Gorham “Hispana-Sovereign” flatware, Bottega Veneta and Chanel handbags, and paintings by Gene Davis and John Wilde. Interested collectors can explore the full listings and register to bid online on Bidsquare.
