American Indian and Southwestern Jewelry: Timed Auction
Nov 13, 2019 17:00 EST - Nov 25, 2019 12:00 ESTSince 1860, the Native American Indians of the Southwestern United States have handed down their traditional jewelry. The legacy of these items is a significant part of their culture and the greater American social fabric. Cowan’s Auctions will offer the upcoming American Indian and Southwestern Jewelry auction to feature these jewelry pieces and other ethnographic items.
Included in the auction is a LeRoy Jewelers turquoise and 14 karat gold cast frog necklace. This piece features graduated turquoise and gold spacer beads on a single strand. The cast frog is also made of gold and is regarded as a fetish or spiritual charm to bring rain and fertility in Native American cultures. Also available is a silver link necklace with nine butterflies, each inlaid with turquoise, bone, and spiny oyster. A 17 ½ inch necklace with two rows of silver beads is another key lot. Spacing the silver are several rope bezels with scalloped edges and rectangular turquoise cabochons. View the whole catalog and place a bid on Bidsquare.
