The available Kodak Bantam has an aluminum body with angled edges and black lacquer finishing. Their glass sculpture series is a result of Bliss’ creative ideas combined with Vanderlaan’s understanding of the material. A 20th-century Lucite block from the series is a key highlight of the upcoming Hammer Time auction from Akiba Antiques. Made of lead crystals and borosilicates, the prismatic glass consists of many small pieces with etched and painted sides. Produced in limited volume, the optical sculpture reflects and refracts light with three main inner segments and ten outer facets.

Over 80 pieces of Wedgwood porcelain in the Florentine pattern will lead the upcoming spring sale at Willow Auction House. The Spring Cleaning Un-Curated Estate Finds auction will offer more than 400 lots of artwork, jewelry, silver, collectibles, furniture, and decorative items. Featured lots include the Wedgwood porcelain, Giuseppe Armani porcelain figure groups, Japanese and Chinese porcelain, an English Sterling teapot, a Superman poster, and rugs. Wedgwood was founded by Josiah Wedgwood in 1759. He was a talented potter who modified the 18th-century creamware with a bluish-white tint that was refreshing to consumers. The available 84-piece set is also in turquoise with the Florentine pattern, a favorite among British royals. Pieces include a sugar bowl, creamer, fruit tray, teapot, coffee pot, dinner plates, soup bowls, and more.

A selection of prints, serigraphs, collector’s plates, a Norman Rockwell lithograph, and a variety of tribal, ethnographic, and religious items will also be available in the auction. Whitewashing the Fence by Norman Rockwell is a lithograph from the Tom Sawyer Suite. Rockwell was an American artist who was said to have captured the American dream and way of life in his works. The double-faced clock at 2nd Street and Arch Street in Old City Philadelphia is thought to be one of the first public clocks in America. The clock hung outside the shop of its maker, Edward Duffield, who was one of the leading clockmakers of the 18th century. He also was a compass maker, civic leader, educator, and well-known friend of Benjamin Franklin, for whom he made clocks and served as executor of his estate. One of his tall walnut clocks is currently up for bid in the Clocks & Watches auction at Skinner. Several other American clocks are also on offer, including an early Maine red-stained dwarf clock, an untouched Philadelphia bracket clock, and a documented Simon Willard lighthouse clock. 

Beyond these, the sale will also include sport and dress wristwatches such as a “well worn” 1965 Rolex Explorer reference 1016, a gold Rolex Yacht-Master, and a Patek Philippe watch in 18-karat white gold. Artworks by Harlem Renaissance artists Norman Lewis and Jacob Lawrence will be highlighted in the upcoming African American Art auction, presented by Swann Auction Galleries. An important figure of the Harlem Renaissance, Norman Lewis focused his work on the struggles of Black American urban living of the time. He was credited for his part in organizing the Harlem Artists Guild. The goal of the Guild was not only to provide Black American artists with creative opportunities but to support those dealing with societal and political discrimination. Swann Auction Galleries will be presenting a 1948 Norman Lewis oil painting in this event. Untitled (Rhododendrons) is one of Lewis’ early works. It was here when he began experimenting with the Modernist style through abstract painting and a black, gray, and green color scheme.

A 1986 Jacob Lawrence screenprint will also appear in the auction. General Toussaint L’Ouverture is signed, dated, titled, and numbered 38/100 in pencil at the lower left corner. The upcoming Prints and Multiples auction from Bonhams brings together works from Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, David Hockney, Joan Miró, and many others. Pablo Picasso (1881 – 1973) created Jacqueline au Bandeau de Face (Jacqueline With a Headband) in 1962. It is a linocut in colors on Arches paper, signed by Picasso and published by Galerie Louise Leiris, Paris. Jacqueline Roque was the muse and second wife of Picasso. They lived together until his death. She appears in more than 400 portraits by Picasso, including the one available in the upcoming sale. In this work of art, the female head has two facets with two different gazes and expressions; both wear a headband. 

A pink-lipped Mao Zedong in a pink suit is an image most cannot forget. An Andy Warhol color screenprint of Mao from 1972 will be available in this Spring Cleaning Un-Curated sale. Mao is printed on Beckett high white paper and signed in pencil by Warhol. Many viewed Mao, the chairman of the Chinese Communist Party, as a tyrant. He was backed and inspired by the communist leaders of Russia like Joseph Stalin. But to Warhol, Mao’s image could be modified, colored, discolored, or parodied to the artist’s liking. A vintage Porsche 550 Spyder replica (1990) by Beck Development is a key highlight of the 93rd Anniversary auction from Charlton Hall. Chuck Beck is well-known among Porsche enthusiasts for producing around 900 replicas of the Spyder. Owing to its successful production, Beck relocated his plant from California to Brazil for improved access to engines. The present replica is among the foremost cars built in Brazil, indicated by its chassis number suffix “B.”

An antique pair of rare matched flintlock pistols by Wogdon & Barton also leads the listings. The steel octagonal barrel and metal mounts are adorned with the stamp of the maker engraved in gold.
