Captivating Cartier Creations Sale at NY Elizabeth: Browse Panthère Jewelry, Diamonds, Handbags, and More

Published on

This spring, NY Elizabeth will present its Captivating Cartier Creations sale, a 400-lot event of luxury jewelry, handbags, watches, and more. Items from iconic French jewelry house Cartier are particularly highlighted. Live bidding will begin on April 21, 2024 at 12:00 PM EDT. Online bidding options are available through Bidsquare

Leading this auction is a Cartier diamond and platinum engagement ring (lot #354; estimate: USD 65,500 – $78,600). The center 1.50-carat round diamond has VS1 clarity and comes to auction with a grading report. A series of smaller diamonds, graduated by size, wrap around the sides of the ring. Also among the top lots in the event is a Cartier 18-karat white gold and diamond ring (lot #42; estimate: $28,500 – $34,200). This size 12 band features elaborate, rounded openwork. Diamonds line the twists and turns of the piece, adding a sparkle effect.

A selection of Cartier Panthère jewelry items will also cross the auction block in this event. Considered one of the brand’s most recognizable and popular designs, the panther motif has appeared in many iterations over the decades since its introduction. The feline manifests in abstract styles, sculptural pieces, and minimalist designs. The Panthère collection is represented in this upcoming auction by an open bangle bracelet composed of 18-karat rose gold (lot #86; estimate: $44,000 – $52,800). Here, the panther appears long and thin, wrapping around the wrist and ornamented only with hexagonal black spots. One end of the bracelet includes slight details to suggest the panther’s head.

The panther takes another form in an 18-karat tri-color gold necklace (lot #124; estimate: $16,000 – $19,200). Featuring an open circle of entwined gold, this necklace also sports a small panther charm, shown from the side. In this sale, the iconic motif appears on chain necklaces, a gold ring, and as hardware on leather handbags.

Elsewhere in the catalog, Cartier designs such as Love and Juste un Clou can be found. The minimalist Juste un Clou series is designed to resemble a twisted nail, with one end being flat and rounded while the other is pointed and sharp. A pair of 18-karat yellow gold earrings (lot #77; estimate: $7,750 – $9,300), an 18-karat rose gold pendant necklace (lot #225; estimate: $10,250 – $12,300), and a twisted 18-karat rose gold ring (lot #340; estimate: $11,750 – $14,100) from the Juste un Clou collection can be considered as well.
