This October, ‘The Steve & Marcy Hench Collection’ has something for every Americana collector. Offered by Morphy Auctions, the collection amalgamates high valued firearms, decorative arts in the forms of historic horns, eagle plaque and more. Leading the auction is the “Lion and Lamb’ Moravian Flintlock Rifle. Attributed to Moravian gunsmith Andreas Albrecht, the pre-Revolutionary War rifle from circa 1760 is offered at the highest estimated value in the auction.
Among many firearms and militaria pieces, is a rare Hessian Flintlock rifle. Wilhelm Landgraf monogram graces the piece along with the maker’s sign, marked in the center as B. Pistor. The piece is among the only two examples of the Hessian rifles currently in existence. Similarly, Bunker hill engraved powder horn finds a special spot in the lot with its history dating back to 1775. The piece belonged to Daniel Kinne, enlisted at the 1st Massachusetts Infantry Regiment, who defended Boston and fought in the Battle of Bunker Hill. Collectors will find more information on the given items and more at Morphy Auctions.
