Notable Cartier Panthère Pieces & Iconic Love Bracelet Lead NY Elizabeth’s Upcoming Auction

Jeanne Toussaint, once the Director of Fine Jewelry at Cartier, had a penchant for panther skin décor and fashion accessories. The Belgian-born French jeweler and designer was celebrated for introducing her signature panther designs, which became the theme of many Cartier creations. She designed several three-dimensional panther sculptural jewelry pieces with diamonds, onyx, and emeralds. The upcoming sale, offered by NY Elizabeth, will feature one such Panthère 18-karat white gold necklace. Other noteworthy Panthère pieces in the catalog consist of an 18-karat white gold bracelet with three-row pavé diamonds. Panthers are considered to be a symbol of fearlessness and playfulness. Equally eye-catching in this sale are 18-karat rose gold bracelets. These include Cartier’s iconic oval-shaped, close fitting Love bracelet. Its closure is fashioned with two functional screws on either side, to be removed using a specific screwdriver. The bracelet was created by designer Aldo Cipullo in 1969 in the New York workshops of the jewelry house.

Two notable necklaces also lead the listings. One is a Merimelo platinum necklace styled with multicolored mixed gemstones and freshwater pearls.
