Bruneau & Co. Auctioneers will offer New England art and antiques from several estates in their upcoming sale. The catalog includes paintings, decorative arts, furniture, silver, and more. Among the fine art lots up for bid is a Modernist still life painting of a vase with roses by Jean Dufy, a French painter and porcelain decorator who studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. The painting was once a gift from Greta Garbo to her niece and comes to auction from a Rhode Island collection.
Also in the sale is a group of antique American horsehair bridles from a Massachusetts collector. Bridles such as these were usually used by prisoners in the American Southwest in the 20th century. The auction house notes that the bridles remain in good condition.
Other lots of interest include a 1933 Sport Kings Babe Ruth #2 baseball card, a Lois Mailou Jones illustration, several works of jade jewelry, a handful of 14-karat gold watches, as well as rings, bracelets, pearl necklaces, and more. View any of these lots and register to bid on Bidsquare.
