Introduced in 1926 by Rolex, the Oyster was the world’s first waterproof and dustproof wristwatch. Five years later, Rolex patented the perpetual rotor and changed the name to Oyster Perpetual. Rolex later introduced the Oyster Perpetual Submariner, the first commercially available timepiece capable of functioning below 100 meters of water. A Rolex Oyster Perpetual Submariner wristwatch from 1996 is featured in the upcoming sale, presented by Clarke Auction. This men’s wristwatch has a blue dial, a rotating blue bezel, and a Rolex stainless steel and gold band.

The auction also offers over 200 lots of fine art, collectibles, and decorative arts. Among the key items is an oil painting by Dickens Chang. Born Zhang Jianguo, Chang blends Eastern traditions with Western techniques in his works. The available painting, titled The Waiting Game, shows a seated woman with one hand on her face and the other holding a cigarette.
