Raoul Dufy was a Fauvist painter well-known for capturing public events. His colorful urban scenes portray Fauvist elements and Cubist perspectives. The upcoming New Year’s Day Auction from Nadeau’s Auction Gallery presents Araut La Course by Raoul Dufy. This painting, which depicts a horse race with air washes and bold brushstrokes, expresses Dufy’s version of social scenes. The event also highlights a sideboard designed by Maxime Old for famous furniture maker Emile Jacques Ruhlmann. The classic marble top sideboard with a gilt base showcases Old’s clean and classical designs. Though the gold pedestal base is a signature of Art Deco, some elements suggest a modern transition. 

Other notable lots include a sterling silver tea and coffee set by Tiffany & Co. Charles Grosjean created this 19th-century Chrysanthemum pattern. The seven-piece set reflect the aesthetics of Art Nouveau design. Also offered are Georg Jensen and Puiforcat silverware. Among jewelry offerings, a handmade Kieselstein-Cord cuff bracelet is noteworthy. The 18-karat matte gold cuff has oval-cut carved gems like onyx, ruby, and bloodstone. Bidders will also find a circa 1967 LeCoultre Polaris Alarm Divers wristwatch with a Memovox alarm movement. Only 1,714 examples of this E859 dive watch exist.
