Austrian-born Billy Wilder was an American film director and screenwriter. His career spanned more than five decades, earning him respect as a leading filmmaker of the Hollywood Golden Age. Found in the upcoming ABC: Estate Finds auction, offered by Millea Bros. Ltd., is a silver foot bowl with the inscription “1960 Award/ Billy Wilder/ Allied States Association of Motion Pictures Exhibitors/ Director of the Year.” It was likely given for the film The Apartment.
An oil painting by award-winning Irish artist Brian Bourke is also available. This painting depicts a nude model wearing a constable helmet in front of a wooded background.
