Passed down through generations, is a Hadley blanket chest made with Connecticut pine. The chest was owned by Dr. Joseph Lynde of Hartford, Connecticut and his wife in the 1790s. A hand-written note from the 1960s by one of Dr. Lynde’s descendants describing the chest’s history is included with this lot. The piece shows some wear that is consistent with the age and use of the desk.
Several pieces in this auction have a connection to the Founding Fathers of America, including an autographed letter from Alexander Hamilton.
