Overall very good condition. Acrylic remains clear, with no cracks or chips. Occasional surface scuffing.

Good original condition. The seat back has several deeper scratches in addition to usual surface wear. The seat has a large area of water damage, affecting the finish. Legs with scratches and scuffing throughout, some resulting in finish loss.

Condition
Good overall condition. This piece was originally mounted on a billboard-sized panel. There is some fraying to the edges that wrapped around the sides of the panel. It is being sold unmounted. As this was created at the end of his career, there are wheelchair and walker impressions in the paint that were part of the creative process.

American Waltham Watch Co. Vanguard Railroad Grade Gold Filled Pocket Watch:

This American Waltham Watch Co. Vanguard railroad grade pocket watch features a Ferguson dial with bold black Arabic numerals for the hours, a red outer track for the minutes, a 24-hour inner ring, and a sub-second dial at 6 o’clock. The case is a Peerless A.W.C. Co., stamped gold filled, serial 1928124, indicating construction made of two thick plates of solid gold bonded over a base metal core. The movement is signed Vanguard Waltham, Mass., serial 22053241, with 23 jewels, adjusted to 5 positions, size 16S, lever set. These specifications meet the standards for railroad time service in the early 20th century, with the Vanguard grade being one of the company’s top-tier railroad offerings. The Ferguson dial, patented in 1908, was designed to improve legibility and timing accuracy for railroad use, making this example especially desirable among collectors. The American Waltham Watch Co., in operation under this name from 1885 to 1923, was one of the most innovative and respected American watchmakers, supplying precision timepieces to railroad workers across North America.
