The Annual New Year’s Auction by Nest Egg Auctions will offer Rare Egyptian Revival Jewelry, An Antique Steamer Trunk, Military Swords, and More.
Nest Egg Auctions’ Annual New Year’s Auction will offer more than 300 lots of fine jewelry, antiques, gold and silver coins, estate lots including seashells, photographs, military swords and blades, fine art, prints, sculptures, and more. The Annual New Year’s Auction is scheduled to begin live on December 30, 2023. Highlights of the auction will be an Egyptian, art deco period revival cobra cuff bracelet and a late 19th or early 20th-century European diamond infinity necklace with over 100 old Euro and rose cut diamonds.
Leading this sale is an art deco period Egyptian revival cobra cuff bracelet (lot #75; estimate: USD 8,000 – $12,000). It is a 22k yellow-gold cuff shaped like a snake, with its head and tail covered in gemstones. The bracelets come in pairs and hold over 4 CTW antique rose-cut diamonds. The snakeheads have red ruby eyes and high-carat diamonds. The gold cuff has highly detailed scales. They are hallmarked for Cairo, Egypt. Another notable piece of jewelry in the auction is a late 19th or early 20th-century European diamond infinity necklace. This vintage neckpiece consists of over 100 old Euro and rose-cut diamonds of eye-clean quality. It is 16 inches in length. The diamonds have 7 CTW set in 14K and 10K silver. (lot #99; estimate: $5,000 – $10,000),
Antique steamer trunk, most likely French, with a three-compartment toiletry tray and five pull-out drawers will also come under the hammer (lot #14; estimate: $8,000 – $10,000). The whole unit measures approximately 21 1/4″ wide, 40″ in height, and 22 1/2″ in depth. The original owner’s initial stamps have been painted over. The locking mechanism is missing its key.
A rare thousand-dollar bill featuring a portrait of Grover Cleveland, with signatures of Julian and Morgenthau, from a series of 1934 Boston is another notable lot in the sale (lot #210; estimate: $2,000 – $3,000). The bill is reportedly in good condition with no major creases, edge tears, or pinholes. Stephen Grover Cleveland (1837-1908) was the 22nd and 24th president of the United States and also served as a mayor and governor in New York state, winning fame as an anti-corruption crusader. Cleveland is the only president in U.S. history to serve a non-consecutive presidential term as a Democrat-elected president in an era when Republicans dominated the presidency.
The upcoming auction features fine jewelry, antiques, gold and silver coins, estate lots including seashells, photographs, military swords and blades, fine art, prints, sculptures, and more.
