The ‘Best of Modernism’ will feature nearly 50 unique items, including overnight stays at the Historic Willows Inn, the exclusive Smoke Tree Ranch, and the Lautner Compound, a sunset tour and cocktail party at the Palm Spring Art Museum’s Frey House II (the former residence of Albert Frey, generally not open to the public), a private helicopter tour of Palm Springs, several stunning Julius Shulman photographs, a recently exhibited painting by Leo Marmol of Marmol Radziner, and much more.

“The ‘Best of Modernism’ auction is a new event for us, and we are very excited about it,” said Mark Davis, Modernism Week Board Treasurer and the producer of the online auction. “When we first conceived of it, we reached out to our extensive lists of contacts and past lecturers who have presented at MW and asked if they might offer something for the auction that related to midcentury modern architecture, design and culture or offer interesting and compelling experiences. We were grateful for the generosity of our partners and friends and have accumulated a very desirable list of auction items, including tours, overnight stays at architecturally significant properties, art, and much more.”

About Modernism Week Online Experience
Local and state requirements for gatherings and social distancing prompted Modernism Week to offer two versions of its popular event – the February Modernism Week Online Experience (Feb. 1 – 28, 2021) and an additional festival featuring in-person events running from April 8 –18, 2021. The Modernism Week Online Experience will feature more than 25 newly created programs specifically for Modernism Week, available for on-demand streaming starting February 1, 2021 and available for viewing for the entire month. The Online Experience video programs include guided tours and presentations similar to events that would usually be available during Modernism Week as in-person events, including the popular Modernism Week Signature Home Tour Video Series. Ticket prices range from $15 – $55 per event, with a few free documentary film screenings. The pricing allows for one household with one viewing device to participate. Tickets for these events will be available for purchase starting February 1 at modernismweek.com.
