Joe Darion was an eminent lyricist who was awarded for Man of La Mancha. It will comprise of South Asian artworks having paintings, furniture, sculptures, and decorative arts.

Indian Illustration of a Rajasthani Prince

The Indian Illustration of a Rajasthani Prince is one of the finest examples of Indian painting from Kishangarh that earlier belonged to the collection of Hellen and Joe Darion. It dates back to the late 18th Century. It is a portrait of a prince holding a falcon bird in the hand. The medium of the painting is gouache and ink. Gilt details are also present in the paper. The dimension of the framed painting is 9″x5 ¾”. Slight foxing and minor paint loss are there in the item. It is not examined without the frame.

The starting bid price of the item is $1500 and the estimated value of the item is $3000 to $4000.

The Persian Manuscript Diptych is a limited edition item and for someone who loves to own a manuscript, nothing can be better than this. It comprises of a painting which shows the Sultan receiving the Mullahs along with a calligraphy page. The item approximately dates back to the 15th or 16th century. It is composed of Gouache and ink, with gilt details on the paper. The dimensions are 8 ½”x5 ½” for each side.

The item was once put on in the Olsen Travelling Exhibition, Olsen Foundation, and Bridgeport, CT; and also belonged to Hellen and Joe Darion of New York. The item is in good condition; however, there is foxing preset in the item. The painting of Sultan has got some crease and tear.

INDIAN & TIBETAN FIGURES

There are a mix of five Indian and Tibetan figures in a single bid in the upcoming auction of Rago. These figures are a mix of statues which were made approximately from 12th century to the 19th century. The five figures comprised in the group comprise of a bronze Indra, a carved stone figure of Yakshi, bronze dancing couple, the stone figure of Kubera and the tibetan figures which depict Yabyum (union).

The primary bid price of the total set is $750. The estimate of the item is $1500 to $2500. This also comes from the collections of Hellen and Joe Darion.

INDIAN ILLUSTRATION OF A MAIDEN

The Indian Illustration of a Maiden is a painting of Blue Krishna surrounded by milkmaids. The item dates back approximately to 1820 and is an exclusive painting. The medium of painting is gouache and ink. The framed painting also has gilt details on the paper.

The dimension of the painting is 71/4”x5” and is from the collection of Joe and Hellen Darion. The painting is in good condition with just some paint loss in certain places. The item is not examined without the frame.

PERSIAN MANUSCRIPT PAGE

Another exclusive item is the Persian Manuscript Page is one of the finest paintings of the Gouache medium. The painting is of Indian origin and can be traced back to the early 19th century. With the Prince and princess sitting on an elaborate throne, the dimension of the picture is 5 ½”x4 ¾”. This initial bidding for the painting starts at $300 and is estimated to reach $600 to $800 in the auction.

INDIAN ILLUSTRATION

The Indian painting shows a scene of ‘Applying Henna’. It is one of the finest paintings of the ‘Ragamala Series’ which was made in India in the 18th century. The medium of the painting is gouache as it was the main medium followed during that time. The dimensions of this painting are 10”x6” and it comes in a framed condition.

The starting bid price is $300 and the estimated value of the painting is $600 to $800.
