Vintage Oscar Heyman Piece & Other Retro Jewelry Lead Intervendue’s Upcoming Auction

Elsa Peretti, a former model and designer, crafted a budget diamond chain for women in the 1970s. On seeing the design, her fashion designer friend Halston dubbed it ‘Diamonds by the Yard.’ The phrase refers to a thin, long neck chain with diamonds spaced out along its length to create a continuous strand of sparkle. A platinum Diamond by the Yard necklace is a key highlight of the upcoming sale from Intervendue. The piece is set with 323 diamonds and measures 87 inches in length. Another striking diamond lot in the sale is a platinum bracelet. It is designed with 55 diamonds, weighing approximately 21.4 carats, and 68 diamonds, weighing around 26.5 carats. The bracelet is fashioned in three rows with baguette-cut diamonds in the middle and a row of round-cut ones on either side.

A vintage Oscar Heyman platinum bracelet also leads the listings. It is studded with 132 round diamonds, 20 baguette diamonds and 27 sapphires. The company is best known for specializing in the use of colored gemstones.
