Robinhood Auctions to Offer Work by Lu Hong, Fabian Perez, Andy Warhol, and More

An original mixed media painting by Lu Hong from 2005 leads the upcoming Modern & Contemporary Auction, presented by Robinhood Auctions. Raised in northeastern China during the Cultural Revolution, Lu Hong later moved to the United States. His art mixes traditional Chinese influences with Western color palettes, mediums, and styles. Lu Hong’s paintings have been exhibited around the world in recent decades. The offered work, titled Intellectual Fruit, is executed on paper and comes to auction with a letter of authenticity. This vivid piece depicts two lace-winged insects landing on an apple, held by an outstretched human hand. Shades of deep purple and electric green splash across the background, creating a surreal effect. 

Other works of note in this sale include Fabian Perez’s Fiesta en Adalucia, a framed oil painting on canvas. A visual artist from Argentina, Perez is best-known for his depictions of tango and flamenco dancers, nightlife, and celebrity portraits. In this painting, a black-clad dancer gestures expressively while a band strums guitars in the background. Another key contemporary work on offer is Mr. Brainwash’s All You Need Is He[Art], a 2022 silkscreen. Hearts cover the piece in a colorful grid pattern. The hearts are stylized to evoke spray paint. Numerous works by marine artist and conservationist Wyland will be also be available in this auction. Bidders can consider Andy Warhol soup can prints, mixed media works by Damien Hirst, and assorted artworks by Peter Max as well.
