Revere Auctions to Present Peanuts Drawings, Strips, Ephemera, and More

This upcoming event from Revere Auctions offers a dedicated catalog of fine art, collectibles, and pop culture items related to Charles Schulz’s Peanuts. The celebrated syndicated comic strip ran continuously for 50 years, becoming a cultural touchstone and inspiration for other comics. In the upcoming sale, the top lots include original Peanuts strips drawn and signed by Schulz. This includes a four-panel Peanuts strip for Saturday, May 28, 1994. Executed in black ink over pencil on drawing board, the strip shows a loud encounter between Snoopy and Woodstock. Another available drawing by Schulz depicts the characters Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and Lucy. It dates from the 1970s. Lucy sits in her psychiatric booth, offering advice to a despondent Charlie Brown. 

A wide selection of memorabilia and ephemera created by Schulz for a NASA space exhibition will also be presented in the upcoming sale. By the 1960s, the Peanuts characters had already become widely popular in American culture. Schultz began a formal collaboration with NASA in 1968, when the space agency approached him to use Snoopy as a safety mascot. The artist eventually created a variety of posters, banners, and other items for the Space Age. This catalog particularly features a signed manned flight awareness poster for the Apollo 17 mission and a Snoopy-related space exploration ephemera collection.
