Picasso Drawing, Jeff Koons’ Magenta Balloon Dog Lead Luxor Sale of Modern & Contemporary Art

Dane Fine Art will present a drawing by Pablo Picasso in its upcoming Luxor Sale of Modern & Contemporary Art. It is an original lithograph titled Arrival of the Knight. Picasso sketched and signed it in 1971. It is from the limited edition of 350 published by Mourlot. In Picasso’s lithograph, a knight is greeted by the crowd upon his arrival. As one of the greatest influences on 20th-century art, Picasso often mixed various styles to create his interpretations of his subjects. His life, full of passionate muses, also inspired him to create innumerable paintings, sculptures, and etchings, like the one available in the sale. 

A magenta Balloon Dog is another leading lot. It is an original porcelain sculpture, one of 2,300 pieces created by Jeff Koons. This piece was released by The Metropolitan Museum of Contemporary Art in 2015. Koons is widely known for his iconic sculptures Rabbit, Balloon Dog, and the monumental floral sculpture Puppy (1992). They were shown at Rockefeller Center and permanently installed at the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao.
