Pablo Picasso (1881–1973) was a Spanish painter, sculptor, printmaker, and ceramicist who became the most influential and dominant figure in 20th-century art. Born in Málaga, Spain, he spent most of his adult life in France, where his staggering artistic talent evolved over an eight-decade career. Rather than sticking to a single signature style, Picasso was defined by his radical versatility and relentless experimentation. He shattered traditional rules of perspective and realism, famously co-founding Cubism alongside Georges Braque and helping invent modern collage and constructed sculpture. His immense body of work, estimated at over 50,000 pieces, fundamentally changed the trajectory of Western art.
