Artists such as Andy Warhol, André Brasilier, and Diego Rivera, respectively pioneers in Pop Art, printmaking, and the mural movement, will be represented in the upcoming Modern & Contemporary Art auction, offered by Freeman’s. Warhol’s Chanel is one of ten images from his Ads series that drew upon media from the 1950s through the 1980s. The series included landscapes, portraits, and still lifes. This pencil-signed piece shows a No. 5 Chanel perfume bottle and was executed in 1985.
Ceramics are also showcased in this sale. Among the highlighted lots is a piece titled Face with Black Nose. It is the work of Pablo Picasso, who experimented with Cubism, Surrealism, and pottery throughout his career. The white earthenware clay vase is decorated with engobe carvings. Also featured in the auction is the work of Max Pechstein, a German Expressionist painter of the Die Brücke group. To view the entire collection and register to bid, visit Freeman’s.
