Over 200 lots of jewelry will be available in the Jewels auction offered by Phillips. Blue diamonds are among the rarest stones in nature, initially sourced from the Golconda mines in India. The 17th century French explorer Jean-Baptiste Tavernier discovered a blue diamond known as “Tavernier Blue,” which resurfaced years later in the collection of Henry Philip Hope. Today, the Hope Diamond is considered one of the most famous blue diamonds in the world. An example of this gem is available in the upcoming sale, featured in a platinum ring by Tiffany & Co. 

The Turkish artisan Sevan Bicakci, known as “the bladesmith of Istanbul,” has donated a diamond, gold, and silver “Oh God, Let it Rain” ring. This piece was inspired by a popular Turkish song from the 1980s. Carved and painted inside the rock crystal of this piece is a scene of Istanbul in the rain.
