George Morrison Abstract Works and Tony Eubanks Painting Available With Revere Auctions

The Abstract Expressionist Ojibwe artist George Morrison was best known for his non-figurative paintings that drew on the colors, patterns, and spirit of traditional Native American artworks. Two notable paintings by Morrison will be available in Revere Auctions’ upcoming sale. Mirrored Image, a 1956 gouache on paper, is particularly highlighted. This piece features layered shades of yellow, salmon, and peach. With its geometric angles and interlocking strips of color, the work recalls Morrison’s famous collages and woodcuts. Another notable fine artwork in the catalog is a 1981 oil painting by Tony Eubanks depicting a cowboy monitoring a herd of cattle. This work echoes the subject matter and color palette of early 20th-century Western art, though Eubanks added contemporary touches like a pair of sunglasses on the cowboy to place the image in modern times. 

Beyond paintings, this auction features a selection of photographic prints by the likes of Ansel Adams and Alec Soth. Bidders can also consider a pair of glass “Persian Forms” by Dale Chihuly. These hand-blown glass sculptures feature vivid green stripes and red rims. Additional lots of interest include a lounge chair and ottoman by Charles and Ray Eames for Herman Miller, a cast bronze figure by Frederic Remington, a Tiffany poppy lamp, and a pair of tall Northwest Coast totem poles.
