Barry Kieselstein-Cord’s jewelry designs made their first appearance in 1973. The American craftsman’s designs were an immediate hit. Working in matte-finished metals, he often creates whimsical sun, moon, and animal compositions. Some of his designs can be found in the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, and the Louvre in Paris. The upcoming Fine Jewelry and Watches auction presented by Hampton Estate Auctions will showcase an alligator bracelet designed by Kieselstein-Cord. Crafted in 18 karat matte yellow gold, the bracelet is shaped like an alligator wrapping around the wrist.
Among the highlights of this sale is a Buccellati sapphire and diamond ring. The yellow and white gold ring is dome-shaped with a sapphire in the center. The gem is surrounded by leaf-shaped bezels and 74 small diamonds. Another notable lot includes a diamond bib necklace by Mimi So. Handcrafted with pavé diamonds, the necklace took its inspiration from the nearby mountains in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Rounding out the collection is a frog brooch in cabochons, white jade, sapphires, rubies, and yellow gold. To view the complete auction catalog and register for bidding, visit Bidsquare.
