Abraham-Louis Breguet’s watches helped develop original movements in watchmaking, with lever and cylinder escapements. When Breguet died in 1823, he was regarded as a man who revolutionized the technicalities of timekeeping. The upcoming Fine & Decorative Arts auction presented by Morphy Auctions will offer one of Breguet’s modern tourbillon watches. Accented with a black stitched crocodile strap, the timepiece is made of 18 karat pink gold.
Among the highlights of this sale is a Tiffany Studios leaded glass chandelier. Red, pink and white peony blossoms encircle the cone shade of this piece. Another notable lot is Jean Beraud’s The Deposition of Christ. This modernized painting shows the crucifixion of Jesus, set in the outskirts of Paris rather than Israel. Common Parisians represent the traditional figures in the scene. To view the full catalog and register to bid, visit Invaluable
