Philip and Kelvin LaVerne were a father-son artist duo recognized for their union of art and furniture. After treating pieces of metal with special soil, their works aged and appeared antique. One of their pieces is featured in the upcoming Exceptional 20th Century Design Auction, presented by William Smith Auctions. Titled Oriental Marriage Whirl, this lot is a patinated bronze and pewter coffee table with patterns etched on top.
One standout piece is an oil on canvas titled Paysage. It is the work of Leopold Survage, a French painter of Russian, Danish, and Finnish descent. Survage was recognized for his presentation of city scenes from different perspectives, all merged into one larger composition. Apart from fine art, the collection also offers silver sterlings from Buccellati, chevron design jewelry, and accessories from Louis Vuitton.
