Modernist painter Alfred Henry Maurer’s work underwent multiple changes over his career. During his Realist period, he won the Carnegie Institute’s first prize for his oil painting titled An Arrangement. Later, Maurer transitioned from his usual style and became dedicated to painting in a Cubist and Fauvist style. The upcoming auction, to be presented by O’Gallerie, features a gouache-on-paper piece titled Standing Female Nude, attributed to Maurer. The auction also features a U.S. Model M1 Garand rifle, manufactured in 1944 with a 24-inch barrel. The M1 Garand was the first semi-automatic U.S. military rifle. Designed by John Garand during WWII, the M1 service rifle was a standard-issue.
Also showcased are diamond and gemstone jewelry pieces. Among them, a mixed-cut emerald, brilliant-cut diamond, and 14-karat gold ring is a highlight. An Indo-Serapi hand-knotted carpet is notable among the offered rugs and carpets. Decorated with red and blue floral designs and a central medallion, Serapi carpets are among the highest quality Heriz carpets. Also presented are paintings, Chinese porcelain, sculptures, modern and antique furniture, and coins. Explore the full listings and register to bid online on Invaluable.
