The auction also showcases the work of Wassily Kadinsky, a pioneer of abstract modern art. He once described his experience with abstract art: “I saw all my colors in spirit, before my eyes. Wild, almost crazy lines were sketched in front of me.” Available in this sale is a portfolio of 12 Kadinsky prints, including drypoints, woodcuts, and lithographs. The auction also includes Joan Mitchell’s Sunflowers III. Many of her works, including the available piece, were influenced by Abstract Expressionism.
