Day Two: The Fine Sale

The Fine Sale, offered by Stair, includes categories from fine, decorative and Asian art to furniture. At the top of the auction is a painting by distinguished African American painter Henry Ossawa Tanner (1859-1937). This oil painting, dated 1897, features a Cairo scene with a boat carrying several people in the foreground and a row of buildings in the background. Another highlighted item is a Gandharan carved grey schist Buddha. This Buddha stands 18.5 feet tall with the base.
