Antique Gorham Cinderella Sterling Silver Tray and Vintage See & Play Walt Disney Castle Set at SJ Auctioneers
Feb 27, 2022 15:00 ESTConnecticut-based designer Adolph H. Reimherr originally designed the “Cinderella” pattern round plate in sterling silver for Whiting Manufacturing Company. After Gorham Company acquired Whiting in 1924, it launched the Cinderella silverware under its brand name in 1925. An antique tray by the American manufacturer leads the upcoming sale from SJ Auctioneers. The Cinderella pattern piece measures 18 inches by 13 inches. Other notable sterling silver items in the auction include a pair of George W. Shiebler vases from the late 19th century. These vintage pieces are handcrafted with intricate chasing and repoussé over elongated necks. Also available is a pair of antique sterling dishes by Reed & Barton that dates back to 1948. Each piece features ornate narcissus flower designs.
A highly rare See & Play Disney Castle playset by Marx leads the toy listings. This vintage set in its original packaging includes Disneykins, plastic pieces for castle making, decoration and flag pieces, accessories and foliage pieces, a play mat, and an instruction sheet. The auction also offers a Lionel O Gauge pre-war passenger train set. It includes two engines, several 607 Pullman cars, and one 608 Pullman Grade C-6.
