Rare and Extremely Fine Winchester Model 1873 Deluxe Rifle

Rare and Extremely Fine Winchester Model 1873 Deluxe Rifle

serial #286692, 38 WCF, 24″ octagon barrel with full magazine and a bright excellent bore. This rifle is finished in full nickel and remains in a very fine state of preservation. The barrel and magazine retain 98% original nickel plated finish with one small 1/4″ round area on the right side of the magazine tube where finish has flaked and the exposed metal shows a dark patina. The action also retains 98% original nickel with just a little light flaking and some light abrasions in the nickel. Nearly all parts are nickel plated including the loading gate, hammer, lever, tang sight, rear barrel sight etc. The front sight is likely an old replacement as it is not nickel plated. The lower left side of tang is marked with assembly code “2003 XX o”, the stock is marked with the same “2003” in the top tang inlet and the inside toe of buttplate is also marked “2003”. The checkered walnut pistolgrip buttstock and forend are of beautifully figured American black walnut and rate excellent with 95% original finish remaining and showing very crisp checkering. The rifle comes with a factory letter listing the configuration as follows: Rifle, 38 caliber, Octagon barrel, plain trigger, checkered stock with pistolgrip, Nickel and it was received and shipped from the warehouse on December 20, 1888. Full nickel-plated deluxe Winchester rifles are exceedingly rare in any condition. This rifle remains in wonderful original condition making it a remarkable rifle. A truly investment quality Winchester. (19561-1) {ANTIQUE} (25,000/35,000)
