Painting Titled Fishing Boat off Pierre Port. Framed by Thomas Acne and Sons (1600-1950) in a wood and plaster high relief gold leaf frame. Artist signed on the back of the canvas, E. Hayes RHA as well as the title, Fishing Boat off Pierre Port.
E. Hayes first exhibit at the British Institution in 1854 was from an address in Dublin but in 1855 an address in Greenwich was given: it was in this year he also first exhibited at the Royal Academy. He continued to exhibit at the British Institution until 1867, and at the Royal Academy until the year of his death. Pate-sur-pate decoration of sparrows on grape and modelled foliate forms in Art Nouveau style. Artist incised on bottom of both vases.
Sparrows resting and flying. Grape vines in hues of green with soft white highlights to show detail, on a textured buff background. This scene is elegantly framed in tube-line in classic cream color and modelled foliate forms in Art Nouveau style in complementary high glazed washes of caramel brown and soft sage green.
