This portfolio features modern etchings of the palaces, pavilions and gardens of the Summer Palace in Peking, based on original works by Giuseppe Castiglione (1688-1766). They were printed in Paris by Editions Jardin de Flore in 1977. Printed at 275 copies on Vélin de Rives paper, imitating the China paper used for the original edition, of which only three complete copies are known, this set of twenty plates (94.5 x 60 cm) reproduces the creations created between 1783 and 1786 by this Italian Jesuit friar who was a missionary in China and painter to the imperial court. Expect €3 ,000/6 ,000 on Thursday January 15 at Corbas (Bérard-Péron OVV).
