Spring Fine Estate Auction Arrives At Turner Auctions + Appraisals On March 21
Over 265 Lots Feature an Array of Artworks, Decorative Arts & Much More
SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, CA, March 9, 2026 – Turner Auctions + Appraisals is pleased to present the Spring Fine Estate Auction on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 10:30 am PDT. Featuring over 265 lots from San Francisco Bay Area estates and SFO Museum, the vast array of lots includes antique European and Indo-Persian miniatures; religious items and Mexican retablos; European, American and Asian artworks from circa 16th-21st centuries; carpets, rugs, and runners, mostly from Persia; a diverse selection of antique, vintage, and contemporary furniture; several antique weapons; two suits of armor, one miniature and one Japanese; several World War II items; C.F. Martin acoustic guitars, including an early model; mint gold coins; wax seals; and much more. Many decorative arts and collectibles are also on offer; acclaimed makers include Lalique, Royal Doulton, Royal Copenhagen, and Bing & Grondahl. There is also a wide range of tableware, serving ware and glassware from Herend, Tiffany, Baccarat, Christofle, Minton, Wedgwood, and Rosenthal, plus items in sterling silver and mother-of-pearl. A large number of items come from Asia, including Japan, China, Korea, Tibet, and India. Several jewelry lots and purses round out the sale.
Some auction highlights include a Wayne Thiebaud aquatint and etching, William Wegman prints, a Bill Worrell sculpture, a fine Indo-Portuguese marquetry cabinet on stand, a pair of Japanese Miyao style bronze and mixed metal figures of warriors, and a Chinese Huanghuali scholar’s cabinet.

LOT 49: Fine Indo-Portuguese Marquetry Cabinet on Stand. Island of Goa, 18th century, the teak cabinet allover inlaid in ebony and bone with an intersecting circular pattern, each circle centering a star, the upper section with a case of ten drawers simulating twelve, the lower section with a long drawer simulating two short side by side drawers, rising on leafy carved teak Nagini figural supports atop plinth risers and bun feet, the corner edges, the handles and escutcheons with a gilt reticulated metal trim imitating the geometric wood inlay, overall 55.25″h x 35.5″w x 20″d. Estimate $10,000-$15,000.
LOT 250: Artist: Wayne Thiebaud (1920-2021). Title: Black and White Park Place. Signature: Pencil signed lower right “Thiebaud 1995″. Medium: Hand ground etching with drypoint, spit bite and aquatint . Size image: H – 30.75″ W – 22″. Size frame: H – 42.25″ W – 33.25”. Created: 1995. Condition: Good. LOT 157: A Pair Japanese Miyao Style Bronze and Mixed Metal Figures of Warriors. Meiji Period. Bearing inlaid signature of Watanabe, the pair standing warriors, elegantly garbed in a robe, one actively brandishing a pair of swords, the other drawing a bow, each on a carved wood footed base, figure 10.25″h, overall 14″h x 9″w x 6.5″d. Provenance: Ashkenazie & Co., San Francisco, 1983. Estimate $3,000-$5,000.
LOT 48: Bakshaish Garden Pattern Carpet. Size approximately 15 feet x 11 feet 2 inches. Estimate $3,000-$5,000.
LOT 78: Artist: William Skilling (1862?-1964). Title/Description: Cheetah in Red Harness. Signature: Signed lower right. Date Created: 20th century. Medium: Oil on canvas. Size: 36″ 48 1/2″ (original mottled/painted frame 41 1/2″ x 53 1/2″). Condition good. Estimate $3,000-$5,000.
LOT 179: Chinese Huanghuali Scholar’s Cabinet. Known as Dingxianggui, the compound cabinet, each door carved centering a Shou symbol for longevity, opening to reveal interior shelves, 84″h x 38″w x 18.5″d. Estimate $2,000-$4,000.
LOT 65: Early C.F. Martin Acoustic Parlor Guitar. Circa 1870s. The 2-17 case having a spruce top, rosewood sides and backs, mother of pearl inlay around the sound hole. Stamped “C.F. Martin/New York” in three places (inside case center in sound hole, interior neck support and reverse of head stock). in a vintage faux crocodile case with purple felt lining. Dimensions: 4″h x 12″w x 37″l. Condition: Overall good restored condition, structurally sturdy, fret replaced, scratches and wear to the case below the sound hole and on either side of strings. Estimate $3,000-$5,000.
LOT 72: Painting, After Guido Reni (1575-1642) / Giovanni Giacomo Sementi (1583-c. 1636). Artist: Circle of Guido Reni (Bologna, 1575 – 1642) / Giovanni Giacomo Sementi (Bologna, 1583 – c. 1636). Title/Description: Madonna che adora il Bambino dormiente (Madonna Adoring the Sleeping Christ Child). Signature: Unsigned. Date: Circa second-half 17th century. Medium: Oil on linen. Size: 38 3/8″ x 32 3/8″ (unframed). Condition: craquelure, re-lined. NOTE: See images for research provided to the consignor by art historian Maurizio Marini. Estimate $1,500-$2,000.
LOT 155: Japanese Mitsukoshi Imperial Silver Bonbonniere Box. Taisho Period, likely made for 1915 Tokyo banquet in honor of Taisho Emperor, the footed box cast in the form of an eight lobed “Tang Mirror” centering a gold Kikumon flower with twin ho-o birds standing on swirling clouds, Mitsukoshi sei seal on base, 121g, 1″h x 2.5″w [couple of foot lob shaped corners slightly bent, some minor surface scratches]. Estimate $1,000-$1,500.
LOT 251: Artist: William Wegman (b. 1943.). Title: You are now ready to go to the ball. Signature: Pencil signed lower right “William Wegman”. Medium: Lithograph on watermarked paper. Size image: H – 26″ W – 23″. Size frame: H – 32″ W – 28″. Created: 1993, edition 44/100. Condition: Good. Estimate $1,000-$1,500.
LOT 54: Large Victorian Gothic Style Miniature Suit of Armor. The unpolished suit of armor fully articulated and complete with stand, overall 30″h. Provenance: Schwartzsackinandcoltd, London. Estimate $1,000-$1,500.
LOT 265: Bill Worell (American , 1936-2021). Three Shamans. Bronze and stone. 9.25″h x 14″w x 4″d. Incised “Worrell” and dated 4/60 on back of left and middle figures. Estimate $1,500-$2,000.
LOT 143: Art Nouveau George Shiebler Sterling Floral Repoussé Footed Bowl. Retailed by Howard & Co, New York, #2766, 3″h x 9.5″d, weighable 374.2 g (12 ozt). Estimate $800-$1,200.
LOT 55: Colt 1860 Model Civilian Revolver. Circa 1862, 44 Caliber, Serial 68134, matching serial nos. on frame, barrel, butt and brass trigger guard, barrel marked “-ADDRESS COL. SAM’L COLT NEW YORK AMERICA”, frame marked “Colt’s Patent”. Overall 13.5″l, barrel 8″l. Condition: Overall small dings and some light pitting to metal surfaces. Wood grip with staining and nicks, also a piece of replaced wood near trigger. Provenance: The Estate of Donald C. Saiger. Estimate $500-$700.
