Reflections: An Exhibition of Paintings by Timothy J. Clark to Open at Moulton Museum from February 10 to March 9, 2024
Laguna Hills, CA: The Moulton Museum is delighted to announce the upcoming exhibition, “Reflections,” featuring oil and watercolor paintings by the esteemed artist Timothy J. Clark. The show will run from February 10th to March 9th, 2024. A 40-yearlong resident from Capistrano Beach in Orange County, Clark boasts an illustrious career with solo exhibitions in prestigious venues across the United States, including Washington D.C., New York City, and Chicago.
Clark himself expresses gratitude for the opportunity to exhibit at this intimate venue, remarking, “This little gem of a museum is a Valentine’s Day gift to me as it allows me to share paintings expressing how I see the quiet moments of the Capistrano Valley, a place I’ve called home for over 40 years. There are even a few pieces from Italy that echo the common Mediterranean lifestyle that connects me to this community and to my Italian grandparents.”
Contrary to appearances, Moulton Museum is not a new addition to Orange County’s cultural landscape. It stands as a testament to the visionary legacy of Nellie Gail Moulton (1878 – 1972), an early patron of the arts who supported institutions such as the Laguna Beach Art Museum, the Laguna College of Art and Design, the Laguna Playhouse, and the recently revitalized Opera.
Jared Mathis, President of Moulton Museum, who also curated the exhibition, expresses his sentiments, stating, “I can’t think of a more appropriate artist to honor our family’s legacy than Timothy Clark. As our family preserves Orange County’s distinctive history, Clark’s paintings celebrate cultural diversity and portray the rich tapestry of communities he has encountered. This exhibition highlights his commitment to showcasing the beauty and complexity of a multicultural world.”
The exhibition opens to the public on February 10th at the Moulton Museum, 25256 Cabot Rd, Laguna Hills from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tim and his wife Marriott will be in attendance to offer personal insights and stories behind the artworks on the following Saturdays: February 17th, 24th and March 2nd. Opened in 2022, the Moulton Museum works to keep the history of Orange County and its ranching era alive, with rotating exhibits that feature Lewis F. Moulton’s ranching legacy, Nellie Gail Moulton’s artwork, daily life, business culture, and local history.
