Prussian Prince Friedrich Wilhelm Waldemar (1817–1849) traveled to India, SriLanka, and Nepal from 1844 to 1846. Published in Berlin in 1853, four years after his death, *In Memory of Prince Waldemar of Prussia’s Journey to India* was compiled posthumously from his journals and notes by Heinrich Mahlmann and Count Eduard von Oriola, his traveling companion. The 104 colored lithographic plates were produced from the prince’s sketches under the direction of Friedrich K. Bellermann. The book features cities, Himalayan landscapes, and scenes from the First Anglo-Sikh War, a conflict between the British and the Sikh Kingdom of the Punjab in 1845–1846. Printed in a very limited run at the expense of the King of Prussia, this deluxe edition—presented on Saturday, October 24, at Jeschke Jádi in Berlin—was never sold commercially.
