A late tribute to the rocaille taste, this mantel clock from the late19th century takes a Louis XV vocabulary and combines it with an exotic subject. The movement is housed in a tambour case topped by a gilded bronze foliage bouquet, with an enamelled dial featuring Roman numerals. The set rests on a white porcelain rhinoceros, firmly planted on a gilt bronze base with asymmetrical curves and foliage. Approximately 48 cm high , the object is one of the highlights of the estate of novelist Jane Stanton Hitchcock (1946-2025), orchestrated by Doyle in New York on Wednesday, January 21.
Estimate : $4 ,000/6 , 000
