Designers rally to support the East Hampton Historical Society Online Auction
EAST HAMPTON, NY.- Who says “you can’t teach an old dog new tricks”. Not true for the East Hampton Historical Society. Now in its 99th year of preserving and celebrating East Hampton’s history, the society has pivoted to reinvented their annual Antiques & Design Show in a virtual format. The newly imagined Virtual Antiques Show Party arrived with an Online Auction running through July 24.
Local design luminaries have rallied in support of the East Hampton Historical Society by donating to the Online Auction. When asked, “What about the EHHS’s place in the community moved you to donate to the Online Auction”, the response was of resounding support. Below are just a few quotes from designers who have graciously donated chic home design items or creative experiences to the upcoming Online Auction.
“All of us who love East Hampton are also in love with its past. You can’t be here and not be seduced by windmills and Childe Hassam and Home Sweet Home and the Walking Dunes. And then of course, the stories. The EHHS and the beautiful care they take of this place allows us to know these stories, and the place we love, better.”
“The East Hampton Historical Society’s Online Auction is the best place in the world to shop for all the design treasures you need (and the design treasures you didn’t even know you need). Log on and explore – maybe even bid upon a fabulous beauty donated by Moi – knowing that you’re supporting the East Hampton Historical Society.”
“East Hampton is an incredibly beautiful place, but there are so many beautiful places in America. What makes East Hampton unique is its history. And, the East Hampton Historical Society does an amazing job of preserving that history and presenting it to the public. I love what they do. Thank you so much.”
“I grew up coming to East Hampton as a little girl and it is a special part of my childhood memories and our family traditions. The East Hampton Historical Society is an incredible organization that has been preserving the towns culture and I am happy to support an organization that values heritage.”
“When I first visited East Hampton over 30 years ago, I was struck by the beauty and history of the Iconic buildings. These landmarks will always be indelible images when I think of East Hampton. I am so happy to support EHHS and the amazing people I know who do this incredible work! “
“How thrilled was I when I discovered the East Hampton Historical Society 30 years ago! EHHS celebrates our past, engages our minds, and helps us to reinvigorate our stewardship responsibilities for future generations to come. (Doesn’t hurt that their parties and tours are tremendous fun either!). As a vital community looking to the future, it is imperative that we acknowledge, respect, restore, preserve and learn from our past. Please join me in supporting this essential organization.”
